Host Signal Processing Modem (HSP ModemTM) Chip
The PCT388 is a high speed HSP Modem
chip implementing ITU-T V.34 33.6Kbps protocols and
Rockwell's K56Flex technology. Several patents are
pending on the PC-TEL HSP Modem software and hardware
architecture. The PCT388 supports baseline data/fax/voice
communication features without the expensive DSP
data pump, controller , UART and memory components found
in conventional DSP modems. Luxury features such as
simultaneous voice and data (DSVD) and HSP Speakerphone
can be supported through a full duplex audio chip. In the
absence of a full-duplex audio chip, the external
low-cost PC-TEL ASIC/Voice CODEC is needed for DSVD/HSP
Speakerphone. The HSP Speakerphone feature allows speakerphone support with any full-duplex audio CODEC. HSP Speakerphone is just a software upgrade. The PCT388 has been designed to operate in a Windows environment ensuring product compatibility over the life of the product. The PCT family of products are software upgradable for speed, features, and enhancements, thus eliminating the need to ever have to "swap out" product. The HSP Modem reference design, evaluation units, users manual, schematics and Gerber files will be provided on request to qualified customers. |
