Baan Company, a global provider of enterprise applications, and Neu-Alpine Software
Company, one of China's largest business software companies, have recently signed
a joint venture agreement in Shengyang, the People's Republic of China. Operating in
China under the name "Neu-Baan," the agreement combines Baan Company's expertise
in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) market with Neu-Alpine's software enginee-
ring experience and extensive distribution channels for Baan Company products throu-
ghout China. Baan Company and Neu-Alpine customers will benefit from the increased
distribution of product services, professional skills, local business network, support
and servicing of business-critical enterprise application software. In addition, Neu-Al-
pine will establish a training facility through China's North Eastern University, which
will offer best-in-class training on Baan Company enterprise applications.
The agreement between Baan Company and Neu-Alpine will further allow Baan to exp-
and its operation in China and the Asia Pacific market. China is a strategic opportunity
for Baan Company, which was noted during the March 1998 visit to Hong Kong by
Tom Tinsley, Baan Company's chairman.
With annual revenues of several hundred million RMB, offices spread throughout
China, and software products that are sold all over the country, Neu-Alpine has also
firmly established itself in the region.
