After introducing its i-Phone in India last week, Goldkist
International is now working out a strategy for the Indian market.
To begin with, the Singapore-based distributor is opting for the
regional distribution model instead of going for a national
distributor. Plans are to appoint 30-40 regional distributors across
the country. H. D. Gupta, managing director, Goldkist International,
said, "We are not going to follow the national distribution model
since the Indian market is diversified and hence regional
distribution will be more suited."
In addition to appointing RDs, the company is aiming to have
about 1,000 resellers under its distribution umbrella. At present,
Goldkist is looking to tap the corporate segment with its new
product in the market.
Gupta informed that the company fancies the southern region and
metros, along with states like Gujarat, to give them maximum
results. Plans are also on to introduce Flash memory cards for both
mobile and cameras in the next three months. The company is also
contemplating a price reduction for its i-Phone if the government
lowers the import duty charged on them, which is currently 40
percent.
To push its products in the market, the company intends to
initiate several incentive-based programs and also extensive media
campaigns are planned.
Gupta added, "With our products, the partners will be able to
earn a margin of 10 percent and additional incentives. While the
distributors stand to gain 5 percent plus their monthly incentives."
