Goldkist to Introduce the i - Phone in India

By Sharmee Roy
New Delhi, May 12, 2004

Goldkist, the Singapore based distributor and computer and telecom hardware trader, has introduced the i - Phone, which will enable users to talk across the globe without paying IDD charges.

According to H.D Gupta, managing director, Goldkist said, "Though it uses the Internet to work, it offers unsurpassed sound quality, it is almost like talking on a local mobile phone."

The i-phone comes with 6 incoming lines enabling 6 party worldwide conferences to act as a Global EPBAX. It also offers host of features like call forwarding, call transfer, caller id, missed calls, last number redial, address book and works on dial up as well as broadband internet even behind firewalls, shared internet connections, VPNs, routers.

"With this phone there's no need to exit ongoing applications, while using the PC for normal work you can make calls. Auto detection and roaming allows users to make and receive calls on the move without being restricted to a certain area," he added.

It is primarily targeted towards small and medium sized organizations, along with end users frequently interacting with people abroad. Priced at Rs.6990, the product will come with a three month warranty. The Goldkist i- Phone will be launched here next week.

In India Delhi based company, Creative E-Biz.Com is looking after the distribution of the i-Phone. Deepak Sharma, India Representative, Goldkist informed that presently they have C& F agents in the country along with two offices in Delhi and Chennai. He said, "We are currently in the process of appointing channel partners for the product though nothing has been finalized as yet."

Will the i-Phone see sucess in India?
